Borja García is a doctoral researcher at the Department of Politics, International Relations and European Studies (Loughborough University, UK).
He is about to submit and defend his doctoral thesis tiled ‘The European Union and the Governance of Football’. The thesis studies the impact of European Union policies in three areas of football: freedom of movement for players, the broadcasting of football and the governance of the game.
Before joining Loughborough University, Borja completed an MA in European Studies at the College of Europe (Bruges, Belgium) and an MA in European Politics at the University of Leeds (UK).
Borja García is one of the founders of the Association for the Study of Sport and the European Union (www.sportandeu.com), a research network that aims to bring together practitioners and academics with an interest in the interplay between sport and the EU.
A graduate in Media Studies (Complutense University, Madrid), Borja has worked as a sports journalist for five years for different media in Spain, including nation-wide daily newspapers, radio and internet based media.
