Experienced Norwegian sports official joins Play the Game staff

8 November 2006

Play the Game is happy to announce an agreement with professor Hans B. Skaset who will work as a Senior Consultant for Play the Game on a honorary basis in the coming years.

Hans B. Skaset has an experience in international sports politics like few other Nordic sports leaders and has earned a reputation as a staunch fighter against doping and other unethical practices in sport.

Among his many functions over the years, the 71-year old Skaset has been president of the Norwegian Athletics Federation and the Norwegian Olympic Committee and Confederation of Sports as well as head of sports at the Norwegian Ministry of Culture. Internationally he was a driving force in founding the intergovernmental anti-doping alliance IADA, and he has served on a number of committees in IAAF and the European Athletic Association (EAA) of which he is a honorary member.

The primary tasks of Hans B. Skaset at Play the Game will be to take part in the construction of a database of experts on sport, to strengthen the existing Knowledge Bank and to trace contributions for the open debate forum Play the Game take part.

“We look very much forward to strengthening the cooperation with Hans B. Skaset and are convinced that his experience and network will add a lot of value to our information activities, especially in the field of academic research,” says Jens Sejer Andersen, director of Play the Game.
