British Government call for sport to unite in corruption war

After the last weeks European match-fixing allegations the British Government is set to recommend the creation of a single unit dedicated to investigating corruption in sports betting. The issue were raised by Play the Game during the IOC Congress in Copenhagen this October with a "Call for action against all forms of corruption in sport."

Allthough the review panel, led by the former Liverpool and Premier League chief executive Rick Parry, believs that a British unit is the best way to meet the growing threat of match-fixing, discussions are going on whether to house the new unit within the Gambling Commission or establish a standalone unit based on the British Horseracing Authority's state-of-the-art operation.
