McQuaid Wants Complete Control Over Tour Testing

International Cycling Union (UCI) President Pat McQuaid has again fanned the ongoing and smouldering power struggle between cycling's governing body and the French anti-doping agency (AFLD) by stating that he would prefer his organisation to take sole responsibility for drug testing at next year's Tour de France.

In October this year the UCI President expressed his wishes for a closure of the cooperation between AFLD and UCI after AFLD had accused the UCI of preferential treatment for teams at the Tour and mishandling of samples taken. At that stage The UCI president stressed that in spite of the breakdown in relations between it and the AFLD, the priority of the sport's governing body was to ensure that cycling's strong efforts to combat doping would continue into the future.
