Olympic sign law accused of breaking civil rights

A Vancouver based civil liberties group has filed a lawsuit charging an olympic sign law, a law that prohibits the posting of signs that are not approved by the city, except for those celebrating the winter games 2010, with limiting of free speech and infringement on Canada’s constitutional guarantees.

According to critics, this law is reminiscent of the Games in Beijing, where Chinese officials asked people who wished to protest to register ahead of time. This plan was approved by the IOC.
