Thai boxer faces ban after gay magazine photo shoot

Worapoj Petchkoom, a popular Thai boxer and the national team flag holder at the Beijing Olympics, may miss out on the medals in London, after appearing in his underwear in a photoshoot for a gay magazine.

Officials from the Amateur Boxing Association of Thailand (ABAT) have warned Petchkoom that he may serve a one year ban from boxing, after concerns were raised that his actions were inappropriate.

General Thaweep Jantharoj, the President of the ABAT, said: "We will question him. After we listen to him, we will mete out punishment," reports Inside the Games.

Petchkoom claims that he did not realise that he was posing for a gay magazine and denies being homosexual.
