UK Football governance report delayed

Publication of a report into the governance of UK football has been delayed by the telephone hacking scandal that has engulfed the government.

The House of Commons culture, media and sport committee was due to meet today (July 19) to sign off the report. However that meeting has been delayed, Play the Game has learned, because the same group of British parliamentarians are also charged with investigating the phone hacking that has seen one newspaper closed and senior members of Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp empire and the UK’s two most senior policemen resign.

Sources close to the committee suggest the results of the enquiry, which started in December 2010 and were originally due out last month, will now be unveiled on July 29.
