WADA retrieves Moscow lab data
WADA has announced that the data, that its expert group went to Russia to obtain, has been retrieved. The data from the Moscow lab will now be brought to WADA’s HQ in Montreal, Canada, for authentication.
An expert group from the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has successfully retrieved the sought after data from the Moscow lab necessary for the reinstatement of the Russian Anti-doping Agency (RUSADA), said a WADA press release from Thursday 17 January 2018.
“This is a major breakthrough for clean sport," WADA president Craig Reedie said according to the press release.
“WADA now embarks on the second phase, which entails the authentication and review of the data to ensure it is complete and that it has not been compromised. Given the amount of data, that will take some time to achieve but our experts have the tools they need to be able to verify the data with a high degree of confidence.”
RUSADA missed a 31 December deadline for the delivery of the requested access to lab data given by WADA in order for the Russian anti-doping agency to be fully reinstated. WADA’s Compliance Review Committee has reviewed the latest developments and will deliver its recommendation to the WADA ExCo on 22 January, the press release said.
